A popular TNA star was recently seriously injured.
Arguably, in one of the best runs of his career, TNA wrestler Elijah, previously known as Elias during his time in WWE, recently suffered a major injury while performing for the global juggernaut’s developmental brand. The ‘Heavy Metal Jesus’ was in the middle of a push that saw him involved in storylines on weekly shows of both promotions. However, following the recent June 17 episode of NXT, he suffered a serious setback.
According to Fightful Select, Elijah tore his triceps during the recent NXT episode while wrestling Trick Williams, Wes Lee, and AJ Francis during a six-man tag-team match alongside his partners Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura. The report noted that the injury happened when ‘The Drifter’ came off the top rope with double knees to the chest, and tore his triceps when he landed on his arms.
As per Fightful’s sources, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling’s lead ringside physician, who was present at the show, helped NXT’s medical team. The former WWE 24/7 Champion has already undergone surgery and is currently recovering.
We at ITR Wrestling wish Elijah a safe and steady recovery.
A Former Champion Wants These Two Ex-World Champions Back In TNA Wrestling
Earlier this month, on SportsKeeda’s WrestleBinge, Steve Maclin urged top WWE Superstars AJ Styles and Drew McIntyre to return to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
There’s a lot of talent there. Not so much in NXT but there are a lot of former TNA talent that I would love to mix it up, on RAW and SmackDown. Like, Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles would be somebody I would love to cross that line and see back in a TNA ring. I think the whole world would love to see that.
I think that’s the right and the right moment kind of thing, if it ever does happen. And if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. It’s okay, but it is something of one of those what-ifs. It’s kind of like The Undertaker-Sting match, you always wanted. It’s one of those moments but if you don’t get it, you always think of, what if? So, its just its own creativity in it’s own mind.”
