Popular AEW star ruled out with injury.
Update: Following the initial address regarding White on Dynamite and the follow-up report, more information was provided by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, who noted that the injury was a broken hand:
“I heard Jay White broken hand and surgery,” Meltzer said.
“I heard that Jay White was injured,” Alvarez added. “I guess surgery, I just heard it was not expected he was going to be out a really long time, whatever that means. But he’s out, it’s a legitimate injury.”
A few days ago, Jay White announced his name for the Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament alongside Will Ospreay and others. However, tonight, during the 2nd April episode of Dynamite, The Death Riders attacked White and ruled him out of the tournament.
Soon after, a report from Fightful Select followed, and updated fans about White’s real-life situation. According to Fightful Select, White suffered a “legitimate” injury ahead of tonight’s Dynamite episode, and a storyline justification was created to explain his absence.
The report further noted that White is now scheduled to undergo surgery, however, his exact injury has not been confirmed yet. Jay White’s injury and absence created several creative changes as a result of his omission from the tournament.
On the 2nd April episode of Dynamite, the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Brackets were revealed, and Jay White was left out of it. White returned from a long injury hiatus a few months ago, but fans might again see him gone for some time.
