Plans for a popular NXT 2.0 duo to join the main roster have been scrapped.
Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin from Toxic Attraction have become an integral and popular part of NXT 2.0 alongside long-reigning Women’s Champion Mandy Rose.
After Zoey Stark and Nikkita Lyons were pulled from their first round match in the Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament on SmackDown, the pair got an opportunity on the main roster in their place.
Toxic Attraction took on the team of Natalya and Sonya Deville and were able to pickup the victory to advance to the next round. However, they have now been pulled from the tournament after Dolin picked up an injury, later confirmed to be a concussion.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer explained that Toxic Attraction were supposed to be on their way to the main roster.
“Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne were scheduled to go to the main roster. They did a social media video talking about how they were going to take over Smackdown from now on, but then the video was taken down.
In the Dolin & Jayne vs. Natalya & Deville match, Dolin apparently forgot a lot of the match and Natalya had to hold the match together. Dolin apparently suffered a concussion and she and Jayne were pulled from the tournament.”
With Jayne and Dolin now out of the tournament, a last chance fatal-four-way tag team match will take place on tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown to determine the team who will take their place.
