Plans For Paul Heyman’s WWE Return Revealed; September 23rd Wrestling News Round-Up

A new report from PWInsider has revealed that former NJPW STRONG Openweight and IWGP Tag Team Champion Hikuleo has been internally added to WWE’s NXT roster.

Hikuleo has been rumoured to be WWE bound for several months now with many fans initially anticipating the brother of Tama Tonga to appear on SmackDown as part of The Bloodline.

It appears that although Hikuleo is WWE bound he wont be joining his brother and cousin on SmackDown for now!

Monday Night Raw is set to air live tonight from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.

Deadlock is an upcoming third-person MOBA-shooter hybrid developed and published by Valve, blending elements of hero-based shooters with MOBA mechanics. Slated for release in late 2025 or early 2026, the game is currently in closed testing on PC, with potential future releases on consoles like PlayStation and Xbox​.

One of the main characters in the game, Abrams, a powerful tank-type character is set to be voiced by none other than current AEW and former WWE star Samoa Joe.

Joe, who has previously featured in video game franchises such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Twisted Metal, took to Twitter to announce his role in the game simply sharing a photo of Abrham with no further details.

Taking to Instagram, Kit Wilson, one half of Pretty Deadly, would share a heartwarming photo revealing that he and fellow WWE star Stevie Turner have officially tied the knot.

Wilson would share an beautiful photo of the ceremony, shown below, as well as simple yet touching message to his new wife “‘Til Death.”

The Rock was recently announced for an upcoming Christmas film featuring Chris Evans, Lucy Liu and J.K Simmons.

‘Red One’ is an action-adventure comedy film directed by Jake Kasdan and is based on the very simple premise that the head of North Pole security, played by The Rock, must team up with a bounty hunter, played by Chris Evans, to rescue Santa Claus after he gets kidnapped.

The film is set to be released on November 15^th and the first trailer has now dropped.

In 1996, Triple H faced one of many punishments for his role in the infamous ‘Curtain Call’ incident as he lost to ‘The Stalker’ Barry Windham in the main event of Monday Night Raw.

Fast forward to 2001 and WWE presented Unforgiven live from the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh.

2013 saw The Shield involved in the first, and only, 11 vs 3 handicap match on Monday Night Raw whilst 2020 saw Eddie Kingston take on Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship on AEW Dynamite.

In 2022, Mexican wrestling star Starman tragically passed away.

On Friday, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes made history with a phenomenal segment on SmackDown.

The two former rivals went toe-to-toe inside Georgia Tech in a near ten-minute cinematic short film recapping their storied rivalry and aligning the stars to take on Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline.

Yesterday, not only did WWE star Seth Rollins have to watch his beloved Chicago Bears lose to the Indianapolis Colts but ‘The Messiah’ was also sent flying thanks to Colts’ wide receiver TY Hilton.

During yesterday’s NFL match, Rollins was thrown over the top of the barricade before being “ejected” from the game by Hilton.

Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd have become fan favourites in AEW over the past few months with their 80’s nostalgia act and charismatic personalities.

The duo, who first appeared in AEW back in 2021, have not just been impressing fans with a new report from Fightful Select revealing that AEW management have been “very happy” with the reaction the pair have been getting at recent shows.

The report also notes that despite the lack of a All Elite graphic, Floyd and Magnum have both been quietly signed to AEW.

CM Punk is set to turn 46 at the end of next month, assuming he can survive his Hell in a Cell clash with Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood, but ‘The Second City Saint’ has already begun receiving gifts from his fellow WWE stars.

Posting via Instagram, CM Punk would reveal that Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez got him some fruit and protein as well as a hilarious, and heartwarming, hand drawn card on the back of a napkin.

Paul Heyman was instrumental in the rise of The Bloodline and a key part of the incredible feud between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes that culminated at WrestleMania.

But The Wise Man’s involvement didn’t stop there.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Dave Meltzer has revealed that Paul Heyman played a key role directing the massively praised cinematic segment between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns on last week’s episode of SmackDown.

Meltzer would go on to reveal that WWE is planning to have Paul Heyman return to the show as a babyface, but they are simply waiting for the “right timing” to do so.

Heyman has not been seen since being brutally attacked by Solo Sikoa and the new Bloodline earlier this year.
