Appearing on the April 19th edition of Monday Night RAW, Sheamus brought back the United States Championship Open Challenge, and now Pete Dunne has teased making a bid for the gold.
During an in-ring promo, Sheamus declared that he’s going to be a fighting champion and said that he’d be issuing an open challenge to each and every WWE Superstar every week on RAW.
“So hears the craic, here’s the deal to everybody. I’m going to be your fighting champion. That’s right, your fighting champion. Which means I’m gonna issue an open challenge for my championship each and every week on Monday Night Raw. Or whenever I want. So let me ask you, let me ask anybody out there, anybody, any WWE Superstar – do you wanna shot at the champ? Do ya? Do you want to put your hands on real gold? Well if you do and if you’ve got a neck on you the Celtic Warrior’s waiting for you.”
Following Sheamus’ announcement, Humberto Carrillo returned to the red brand, but was quickly beaten down.
The Celtic Warrior later reiterated his challenge on Twitter, where NXT Superstar Pete Dunne responded.

Pete Dunne was last in action at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver where he defeated Kushida, after naming himself as the best technical wrestler in the world.
‘The Bruiserweight’ initially signed with WWE in 2017 and has gone on to win the NXT Tag Team Titles, the NXT United Kingdom Championship and the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
Elsewhere on RAW, Charlotte Flair returned to action before attacking a referee following her defeat to Asuka. Flair has since been fined and suspended by WWE official Adam Pearce.
