Pete Dunne Reportedly Offered WWE Contract Extension

With rumours swirling about the status of NXT’s Adam Cole, a new report has given information about Pete Dunne and his current status with WWE.

Cole’s status has been the cause of much speculation after it was reported that the former NXT Champion’s WWE contract expired in July. The Undisputed Era star was then reported to have signed a short term extension that took him until SummerSlam weekend where he competed at NXT TakeOver: 36. In what was billed as the ‘Undisputed Finale’ Cole lost a Two Out Of Three Falls rubber match against former friend turned foe, Kyle O’Reilly.

With rumours suggesting Cole could soon debut in AEW, a report from Fightful Select then put paid to the idea that an AEW debut is imminent. The report noted that the short-term extension which Cole signed in July runs until Friday, August 27th. With Dynamite and Rampage both being taped on the 25th, this makes it “impossible for him to legally appear.”

Fightful added that WWE sources have told them that they expect another offer from the company to be made to Cole this week.

Now Fightful Select has also reported that The Bruiserweight Pete Dunne is in a similar situation to Cole. With Dunne’s deal also set to end, he also signed an extension. The report also says that over SummerSlam weekend in Las Vegas, the former NXT United Kingdom Champion was offered an extension to his contract but no confirmation has been forthcoming as to the length of a potential deal.

The report concludes by saying that Fightful has not heard whether or not Pete Dunne will sign any potential deal.

Dunne’s stablemate Danny Burch recently returned from injury on NXT to once again stand alongside Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Dunne’s compatriot, Ridge Holland.
