The Perth Tourism Board is hoping that it won’t be another 6 years before WWE returns to Australia to host a major show.
February 24th saw WWE present the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event in the Australian city. Along with the usual action and commercials seen on standard events, promotional tourist videos were seen throughout the broadcast to encourage tourists to visit the area. On top of this, there was also a significant boost to the local economy with the masses of fans utilising the local businesses in the area.
With the event now over, 9News Perth has looked back on the event and the reaction from the local officials. It is being reported that the event was so successful that the city has issued an open invitation for the sports entertainment titan to come back in the near future.
Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti expressed how delighted she was with the event, touting the success of the event and how all expectations were exceeded:
“When you look at all the indicators, it has been a roaring success. 52,000 people at the stadium last night, well above our projections. It eclipsed what I think we thought it would do.”
Perth has made a splash on the world stage with the state government dubbing last night's wrestling spectacle a roaring success.

The report also gave some interesting statistics regarding the brand and the event itself, noting that WWE has a worldwide reach of 1 billion people and that 14,000 fans in attendance at the event were not native to Perth and travelled in for the show, some staying multiple nights in the city.
Taxpayers will never know how much it will cost, but the incurred cost to host the event was described in the report as “a good deal.”
Rhea Ripley Responds To Perth Fans At WWE Elimination Chamber
Although many of the top stars were competing at the Premium Live Event, many came to see Australian native Rhea Ripley defend the Women’s World Championship against Nia Jax, which took place in the main event of the show. Receiving a hero’s welcome and with her family in attendance, The Eradicator defeated Jax to a thunderous ovation. Looking back on the match, Rhea Ripley issued an emotional response to the fans in attendance in Perth.
