WWE has put Penta in prominent positions on Monday Night RAW. Even though he does not always score the win in high-profile scenarios on television, the former AEW star’s continued exposure against top stars of the sports entertainment capital proves the company values him.
He lost a number one contender’s Gauntlet Match on RAW this week. The bout was to determine who would face World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at SummerSlam. While CM Punk won the Gauntlet to get that shot next month, Penta is going to get a taste of what it’s like to tussle with The Ring General soon.
Penta vs. Gunther Booked For WWE Live Event This Weekend
Gunther may have been humbled at WrestleMania 41 by Jey Uso, but he is back on top of the division. He got his title back from Main Event Jey, retired WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg last Saturday, and is going to defend the World Heavyweight Title against The Best in the World at The Biggest Party of the Summer next month.
Meanwhile, this Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas, WWE will host a live event. The locally advertised matches include Gunther vs. Penta in singles action. Other bouts on the card are Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton vs Solo Sikoa & JC Mateo, and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton vs Nia Jax in a Street Fight. Jey Uso, The New Day, and Rhea Ripley are also advertised for the event.
This past Monday, Bron Breakker eliminated Penta from the Gauntlet Match in the main event. Breakker continued to run roughshod until he was humbled by Punk. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Penta, who was feuding with Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Seth Rollins up until recently.
