Penta has revealed why he began using the phrase, “cero miedo.”
For most of his career, Penta has been synonymous with his catchphrase, “cero miedo,” which means, “zero fear.” The star often has the words somewhere on his ring gear and uses a 0M hand taunt to his opponents frequently in his matches.
During an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Penta revealed that the phrase came from one of his favourite bands, Los Buitres De Culiacan Sinaloa, who use the words in many of their songs.
“The truth is, I love the Corridos. Mexican music is The Corridos. Los Buitres De Culiacan Sinaloa is the name of the band. In a lot of songs, they say, ‘Cero Miedo.’ ‘Cero miedo mi compa,’ which in English is ‘No fear, my friend.’ I hear ‘Cero Miedo,’ and I liked it.”
The star used the phrase in his first promo for AAA in Mexico. It struck a chord with the audience and he has used it ever since.
“My first interview in AAA, I did a promo, ‘How are things?’ ‘Cero miedo.’ My reaction was ‘Cero miedo.’ After that, everyone (kept saying) ‘Cero miedo.’ I improved ‘cero miedo’ with the hands, the t-shirts, and everything. It came from the Corridos in Mexico.”
Penta “Needs Revenge” Against CM Punk
During the same interview, Penta named CM Punk as a dream opponent, explaining the pair had one match in AEW, but Punk beat him. As well as Punk, the star wants to face John Cena, Seth Rollins, and Bron Breakker.
