Paul Wight has expressed his view that competition is key in the wrestling business and how he feels WWE needs All Elite Wrestling.
Wight was recently announced as signing with AEW, making his debut on AEW Dynamite. The former Big Show will be providing commentary on AEW’s new show ‘Dark: Elevation.’
Speaking to Renee Paquette on her Oral Sessions podcast, Wight explained his view that wrestlers need more than one company to ply their trade.
“I don’t care if this p*sses people off or not but I’m gonna say it. You need competition that’s not in the same house. You need another brand or if someone doesn’t find out who they are on one brand, there’s still another company or they can reinvent themselves and try again.”
“I think that’s the problem with when WWE was the only game in town, sure you have all the talent. Sure you have this great plethora of talent to work with. And I think that’s one of the problems the WWE has now, is because they have SO MUCH TALENT, that they can’t really maximise on all that talent.”
In his debut on Dynamite Paul Wight teased a ‘hall of fame worthy’ surprise debutant at the AEW Revolution event. That surprise would turn out to be former 2-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage.
During his appearance on the podcast, Wight told the hysterical story of a match between him and Brock Lesnar in South Africa.
