Roman Reigns has been missing his Special Counsel in recent weeks but a new report has shed light on Paul Heyman’s WWE absence.
At SummerSlam in Nissan Stadium, Nashville, almost 50,000 fans were treated to a great show headlined by Brock Lesnar challenging Roman Reigns for his Unified WWE Universal Championship in a Last Man Standing match.
The bout between the two megastars was typically wild with Lesnar stealing the headlines by driving a front loader tractor to the ring before ultimately lifting the ring up with it late on, sending Roman Reigns crashing to the floor.
Despite his machinery, Brock Lesnar suffered defeat with Reigns and The Usos having to bury The Beast Incarnate under all sorts of furniture to keep him down for the ten count. During the chaotic scenes, however, Brock Lesnar finally got his hands on his former advocate as he sent Paul Heyman crashing through the announce table with a mighty F5.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has noted that Heyman’s prolonged absence from WWE television since SummerSlam is to sell his injuries at the hands of Lesnar:
“The reason Heyman hasn’t been on TV is because the idea is to sell the injuries from Lesnar’s F-5 for a lengthy period of time to make the spot mean something. Likely he would return as a surprise at some point.”
Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn handed out a vicious beating to Reigns’ Clash at the Castle challenger on SmackDown as they demolished Drew McIntyre.
