Paul Heyman has named who he says could be considered as the best two tag teams of the last twenty years, which would put them among some elite company.
Heyman is a master promoter as he proved time and again at the side of Brock Lesnar and now as The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns’ Special Counsel. Heyman’s knack of talking up his clients as well as their potential opponents leaves fans salivating to see bouts take place.
While talking to Z100’s Josh Martinez, Heyman’s promotional panache may have been on show when he discussed the current SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos and their rivals in recent weeks, the Street Profits.
Paul Heyman began by pointing out that the Street Profits are anything but a one-man team:
“Let’s not discount Angelo Dawkins, please. Same with Dawkins [something special about him]. If you’re not seeing it, you’re missing it. That’s why they complement each other so well. Now, Montez is the more gregarious of the two, Montez is the more vocal of the two, but Dawkins is a stud as well. They complement each other as well as any tag team I’ve ever seen in the past 20 years.”
“They are perhaps, with the exception of The Usos, the best tag team of the past 20 years. They are a magnificent combination. They are the yin to the yang, the left to the right. They are two individuals with one brain. It’s every cliché or concept or strategy or description that you can give a great tag team. They embody it.”
The Street Profits have come to the aid of Finn Balor in recent weeks as he continues to do battle with The Usos cousin, the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The Street Profits defeated The Usos last week on SmackDown in a non-title bout albeit by disqualification. This has been enough for WWE to confirm that the two teams will meet inside Madison Square Garden on SmackDown with the titles on the line.
