Paul Heyman Pitched Logan Paul WWE Run To Vince McMahon Back In 2019/2020

Logan Paul and his $5m Pokemon Card

At WWE Crown Jewel on November 5th, Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Logan Paul. While the YouTube sensation has only had two matches in his WWE run to date, his sheer star power outside of the squared circle quickly propelled him to the top of the card.

Logan Paul first appeared on WWE television in the lead up to WrestleMania 37 in 2021, sitting ringside for the match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at the event. The star even took a Stunner from Owens after the match.

Paul’s first in-ring action came at WrestleMania 38 when he teamed with The Miz to defeat The Mysterios. He followed this up at SummerSlam with a singles victory over his former tag team partner.

Paul Heyman Comments On Logan Paul’s WWE Crown Jewel Match

After Roman Reigns appeared on his IMPAULSIVE podcast, Logan Paul claimed that he could defeat the Tribal Chief. This seemingly throwaway line, sparked the rivalry which has lead to the match at WWE Crown Jewel.

During an appearance on WWE After The Bell, Roman Reigns’ Special Counsel Paul Heyman was asked about the upcoming clash with the social media star. Heyman explained that there was no trepidation when it came to working with Paul, even with his relative inexperience. The former ECW boss revealed that he even tried to facilitate Logan Paul’s involvement in WWE back when he was Executive Director of Monday Night Raw from June 2019 to June 2020.

“I didn’t have to think about it at all, and neither did Roman Reigns. When I was Executive Director of Raw, I had pitched Logan Paul to the then chairman Vince McMahon to get involved in a scenario that would ultimately culminate in a SummerSlam or Survivor Series or a Royal Rumble match.

So I had seen the Paul brothers disrupting the boxing industry from the very beginning when they got involved. I mean, they just came in at such a level and with so much fanfare. So this is a no brainer to the Tribal Chief, and it’s a no brainer to his Special Counsel.

This is global publicity, this is a chance to take Logan Paul’s audience and put those eyeballs on WWE, and more importantly on Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman and The Bloodline. And, of course, the desire is to retain as many eyeballs as possible because we’re trying to seduce them on our brand of entertainment.”

Although he doesn’t think WWE will make the title change, Jeff Jarrett recently claimed that Logan Paul defeating Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship would “work in every kind of way.”
