Paul Heyman – “It Was Kevin Owens’ Idea To Bury Sami Zayn”

Paul Heyman has poured fuel on the fire of Sami Zayn’s ‘conspiracy’ claims in WWE, stating that he helped bury the star on Raw but claims it was someone else’s idea.

The special counsel to Roman Reigns was appearing on Talking Smack alongside Zayn. Sami Zayn has been complaining for months about a conspiracy against him in WWE. Going so far as to hire a documentary crew in his quest, Zayn has been on a mission.

Heyman was announced as the new Executive Director for Raw in June 2019. He would hold the role for a year, being relieved of those duties in the summer of 2020. Sami Zayn was a star on the red brand during Heyman’s tenure in charge. After Zayn left the Talking Smack set, Heyman revealed to host Kayla Braxton that there was a conspiracy against Zayn on Raw. But it hadn’t been Heyman’s idea.

Paul Heyman explained:

“Listen, we were in meetings and It wasn’t even my idea to bury him. It was Kevin Owens’ idea to bury him.”

“We were running hot on Raw and the Street Profits were the Tag Team Champions. And I needed a tag team to go against the Street Profits. I went to Kevin Owens and I said, ‘why don’t you team with Sami Zayn again and we’ll put you up against the Street Profits.’ [He said] ‘Are you kidding me, I’ve known that guy since we were kids together, he’s a pr*ck, I don’t like him, bury him in meetings.'”

“I said ‘no no KO, I don’t wanna bury Sami in meetings.’ He said, ‘no no no, everyone else buries him, you might as well just bury him’ so I did. It was part of a conspiracy because Kevin Owens didn’t like him, he told me that that’s the way he was since he was a kid.”

It is impossible to verify the veracity of Heyman’s claims. However, given his client’s history with Kevin Owens, this could be an attempt to stir up trouble for Owens. Kevin Owens had previously challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title at the Royal Rumble. Reigns would defeat Owens in a Last Man Standing Match.
