Paul Heyman Details Close Friendship With Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar

The former Advocate to Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, has detailed his close friendship with The Beast Incarnate, saying there’s never been a “cross word” in their 20 years of knowing each other.

While speaking with William Mullally of Esquire Middle East, Heyman – now acting as Special Counsel to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns – would disclose how Brock Lesnar is a “very private man” and that he won’t elaborate on any discussions the pair have had, as he respects his friend’s privacy.

“Brock Lesnar is a very private man. And in the 20 years that we have been friends and business associates, we have never had a cross word. And the reason why is because I never discussed Brock Lesnar’s personal life with anybody. So any discussions that I have with Brock Lesnar are exactly that. They are discussions with Brock Lesnar. And they will remain solely with Brock Lesnar unless Brock makes the decision to discuss them with anybody.”

Speaking at an Inside The Ropes live show in 2016, Paul Heyman recalled a meeting he and Brock Lesnar had with Vince McMahon, where Lesnar privately told him how he planned on going from being the zero in 22-0, to being the one in 21-1 after McMahon suggested The Beast Incarnate would be fed to The Undertaker.

“Brock was sitting there going, he’s going… [Sighs] ‘Who am I going to have to work with now? Okay, Vince, who am I working with at WrestleMania?’ And Vince looks at Brock in the eyes and says, ‘The Undertaker!’ And of course, in Vince’s eyes, it was… ‘You’re going to be fed, you’re going to be the 0 in 22-0.’ And I will never forget, Brock and I walked out the door and we kind of… Brock had his own bus and we got into the bus, didn’t say a word to each other, got to the bus and I put down my phone and said, ‘Well, what do you think? Taker, huh?’ He said, going to take root under WrestleMania and it’s the first time I ever heard the phrase, Brock sat there, he’s just sitting, stirring, sitting at a table in his bus and Brock looks up and he goes, ’21-1. I’m the one.’ And I went, ‘Holy s***, 21-1. How do we make that happen?’ And Brock said, ‘That’s what we are going to do. We are going to conquer that f***ing streak at WrestleMania.'”

Speaking of a man many are calling the “next Brock Lesnar” in Parker Boudreaux, though, Heyman heaped on the praise, saying Boudreaux is more than just a meathead, noting the 23-year-old’s intelligence.

“Parker Boudreaux is a very interesting human being that took his education very seriously. He’s not just a meathead. He’s a six foot three, six foot four, 300 pound athlete who has one hell of the head on his shoulders. So Parker Boudreaux is doing what everyone else does. He’s starting from the bottom. He has reported to the WWE Performance Center. And he’s got to work his way up to the top. There’s a lot of roadblocks on the way. Do I think he can navigate them? Absolutely.”
