Aleister Black has opened up on a conversation he had with Paul Heyman on the day he was released from WWE, and the positive words he had for him.
Black has previously spoken about his good relationship with Heyman, and how the Father of ECW “fought tooth and nail” for him in the company. Now, Speaking to Renee Paquette on the ‘Oral Sessions’ podcast, the ‘Dutch Destroyer’ revealed that Heyman contacted him on the day he was let go from WWE and offered words of encouragement.
“He reached out to me on the day that it happened, it was very sad. Paul has always said to me, ‘Tom, I think that you’re five years ahead of the business, and as brilliant as I think you are, I think that’s also sometimes your biggest issue, that you’re so far ahead mentally that people have to catch up to it.’
Black went on to say that Heyman still believes he will do great things in wrestling.
He still believes, he’s like, ‘I still believe you’re going to do great things’. And we’re far from done, I’m absolutely far from done.”
Since being released from WWE on June 2nd, there has been a lot of speculation about where we might see Aleister Black take to the squared circle next. Recently, Dave Meltzer reported that the expectation is that he will be heading to All Elite Wrestling once the 90-day no-compete clause of his WWE contract expires. However, there have been reports that some within WWE would like to bring him back to the promotion. We will keep you up to date on any developments here at Inside the Ropes.
