Following Paul Wight’s announcement that a “Hall of Fame worthy” talent is going to debut at AEW Revolution, wrestlers far and wide have taken to social media to tease an appearance. The latest star to throw his hat into the ring is occasional NXT high-flyer Pat McAfee.

The former NFL star hasn’t been see in NXT since appearing in a pre-recorded video package on the February 17th episode of the black and gold brand. However, Pat McAfee posted a short video clip to Twitter showing him packing a bag with his wrestling gear.

McAfee has only competed inside the hallowed squared circle twice in his young wrestling career, however his work in NXT has drawn praise from the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk. Following a stellar performance in defeat against Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver XXX, McAfee upped the ante even further at NXT TakeOver: War Games with a death-defying Swanton Bomb from the top of the cage.

McAfee recently commented on Shaquille O’Neal’s appearance on AEW Dynamite after the NBA legend said that he was going to have the best celebrity match in the history of professional wrestling. The leader of the Kings of NXT took exception to this, and AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes responded during a media call ahead of AEW Revolution. Rhodes called McAfee’s comments bizarre, before adding “‘cause I’m pretty sure Pat’s trying to get a job at AEW every other day, but that’s another conversation.”

Numerous other current and former wrestlers have also teased an appearance at Revolution, most notably Kurt Angle. The former Olympian posted a video to Twitter of him in his ring gear, commenting “to be continued.”

Meanwhile, Inside The Ropes has run down the credentials of 10 potential candidates for a surprise appearance ahead of the pay-per-view.

AEW Revolution takes place on March 7th. Viewers outside the United States can watch the pay-per-view via Fite TV.
