Ahead of WrestleMania 39, Pat McAfee’s WWE return was heavily in doubt.
The former NFL star returned to commentary for the Royal Rumble back in January, but WWE CEO Nick Khan stated in a recent interview that there were no plans for McAfee to appear inside SoFi stadium due to his busy schedule. Not only that, Michael Cole confirmed that he and Corey Graves would be serving as the commentary team for both nights of the blockbuster event.
However, as The Miz and Snoop Dogg were announcing the event’s attendance of 80,497 and addressing the crowd, the sounds of McAfee’s theme rang out throughout the stadium to the delight of the fans.
McAfee was wearing what he called his “WrestleMania tank top,” and said he wanted to challenge Miz to a match right then and there. Miz made the claim that he didn’t have the authority to make matches official, but Snoop Dogg declared that the match would indeed take place.

Pat McAfee Got Help From NFL Star George Kittle At WrestleMania 39
Sitting front row inside SoFi Stadium was San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle. The NFL star has made no secret of his wrestling fandom, calling out Baron Corbin and shouting out Bayley as his “best friend.” He’s even said he’d love to join the world of sports entertainment someday.
Kittle jeered at Miz from ringside, eventually causing Miz to shove him down in his seat. The NFL star then jumped the barricade and delivered a clothesline to the WrestleMania host before Pat McAfee dove onto his foe.

McAfee’s pinfall victory over Miz is the second time he’s been victorious at WrestleMania as he defeated Austin Theory at last year’s event. However, he was immediately confronted by Vince McMahon after the bout, ending up in an impromptu match with the Chairman of the Board. Despite his 76 years of age, McMahon defeated McAfee.
