With Pat McAfee taking a break from Friday Night SmackDown, who stepped in the former NFL star’s very excitable shoes?
On September 7th it was announced that Pat McAfee had landed a new gig as part of ESPN’s ‘College Gameday’ team. The announcer has also agreed to do alternative broadcasts for select college football games on ESPN 2.
Following the news it was confirmed that as a result, McAfee would be taking a break from the SmackDown announce desk to focus on his new role.
On the September 9th episode of the blue brand it was revealed that Corey Graves will be filling in for McAfee while he’s away. The move will see the former NXT star pulling double-duty as he continues as colour commentator on Monday Night raw along side Byron Saxton and Jimmy Smith.
After an eight-year career in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, Pat McAfee set about taking the world’s of sports analytics and talk show radio by storm.
The result has seen McAfee host his incredibly successful show, ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on SiriusXM and YouTube, while also previously working for Fox Sports.
Following his retirement from the NFL, McAfee also began dipping his toes into the crazy world of WWE in 2018. This eventually led to him competing in the ring and becoming an on-screen personality. On April 16th 2021 McAfee became colour commentator for Friday Night SmackDown alongside Michael Cole.
