Pat McAfee Provides Health Update Following Brutal Match With Gunther At WWE Backlash

Pat McAfee has admitted that he is very banged up following his match at WWE Backlash.

Competing at the Premium Live Event on May 10th, the Raw announcer was in action against Gunther following the events that took place on the Raw after WrestleMania, which saw The Ring General choke out McAfee.

As many suspected, the match was largely a one-sided affair with the former World Champion brutalising McAfee for most of the 14-minute bout. Unsurprisingly, McAfee did not escape the match unscathed.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee reacted to footage from the match while also providing his own perspective. Reacting to the chops, McAfee admitted his chest is still sore:

“I’ll tell you what, Chest is burning, obviously. Neck is hurting from holding my head up from whenever I was getting my ass beat. Back is pretty sore, hips are not good either, knees, both of them are very problematic.”

The footage then cut to McAfee in the Boston Crab, which saw Cole make his way to the ringside area. McAfee noted that his hips are sore from the assault along with potential internal bleeding:

“I was wondering why my hip flexors are so sore, now it makes sense, this guy was literally stretching it out there. Michael Cole was like, ‘You can give up!’ I’m like ‘F*ck you Cole!’ He starts laying them in, it was quite the night in St. Louis. Didn’t get the win but massive respect to Gunther.”

“Who knows about the bleeding that’s happening inside of me, but I guess we’ll find out. Popped a blood vessel in my left eye. When did that happen? Who knows? Could have been anytime. That might have been the first chop. So I took a lot, gave some, and now we move on.

The next day, McAfee also showed off his battle wounds on social media after being chopped extensively by Gunther:

On the next episode of Raw, Gunther announced that he would be challenging for a WWE Championship soon.
