According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is no ill-will between WWE and Pat McAfee.
Reporting on the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer noted that Pat McAfee still loves WWE and covets his position in the company. There is said to be zero heat on the former NFL star from NXT management.
The news comes just days after the brilliantly outspoken personality was announced as to have been withdrawn from NXT television for the foreseeable future, with Dave Meltzer noting that currently, there are zero plans to bring him back to the black and gold brand before spring 2021.
At time of writing, there was still no reason provided as to why WWE had chosen to take arguably the most entertaining star off of television other than the company wanting to use him sparingly rather than on a regular basis.
The news was even said to have come as a shock to the man in question who jokingly tweeted out that he’d been fired on Christmas Day.
The last time we saw Pat McAfee in a NXT ring was on December 6 at NXT TakeOver: WarGames where he delivered a diving senton from the top of the cage to The Undisputed ERA. Without his presence, NXT can now concentrate on the other three members of The Kings of NXT.
Currently, NXT Tag Team Champions Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan are locked in a feud with both Breezango and the team of Drake Maverick and Killian Dain – who they successfully defended against on the December 23 edition, while Pete Dunne has been in and around the main event scene since his October return.
