Pat McAfee has tested negative for COVID-19 paving the way for his return to the SmackDown announce desk at Madison Square Garden.
The announcer broke the news on social media in typical Pat McAfee fashion, showing himself Superplexing Adam Cole who is labelled ‘COVID-19.’ McAfee captioned the clip, “Uncle Covid’s punk ass is officially AHT of me.”
The former NFL star had missed the last two episodes of SmackDown after revealing that he tested positive for COVID-19 on August 25th. During his absence his chair alongside Michael Cole was initially filled by Corey Graves and Kevin Owens, with just Graves filling in on September 3rd.
On the episode it was announced by Cole that McAfee was feeling much better and would be returning the following week.

The blockbuster episode of SmackDown at the ‘World’s Most Famous Arena’ will also feature the return of Brock Lesnar. Although The Beast returned to WWE at SummerSlam he has remained absent from SmackDown. However, that all changes on September 10th.
On the most recent episode of the show, a flustered Paul Heyman approached his latest charge Roman Reigns after taking a phone call from Lesnar. Heyman said that they had a problem as Lesnar was heading to SmackDown the following week. A nonplussed Reigns corrected his Special Counsel saying that it was only Heyman who had the problem.
The show will also feature a huge SummerSlam rematch when Edge takes on Seth Rollins aiming to finally put their feud to bed. Meanwhile, SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair will hold a contract signing for their clash at Extreme Rules.
John Cena is also advertised as being at the event, although it is unclear whether he will appear on TV. Cena hasn’t been seen since being defeated by Reigns at SummerSlam. Reports have suggested that Sasha Banks may also make her return to WWE on the show.
