Pair Of Title Matches Set For Max Bump 2021

Whilst DDT is now firmly on the road to CyberFight Festival 2021, there are still some big stops along the way.

In particular, a pair of intruiging title matches have been announced for Max Bump, DDT’s May 4th show from Korakuen Hall.

In a unique Champion versus Champion contest, current Extreme Champion Chris Brookes will clash with the Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion Saki Akai, with both belts on the line.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Brookes, who as Extreme Champion is allowed to select the match type, noted that out of respect for Eruption member Akai, he had asked for the match to be wrestled under standard rules, with no stipulations.

This is of course a far cry from the Barbed Wire Casket Death Match that Brookes won the title in when he defeated Shunma Katsumata back in March.

Akai, who is the only full-time female roster member in DDT, is an 18-time Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion and has also held the KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championships alongside her Eurption teammates, Yukio Sakaguchi and Kazusada Higuchi.

She also recently won tag team gold in DDT’s sister promotion, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, under the guise of Sakisama.

On the same card, Universal Champion Yuki Ueno will be looking for his fifth successful title defence when he takes on Soma Takao.

The pair engaged in a particularly frosty exchange at the presser, which eventually resulted in Takao pouring a drink over the Champion’s head.

Max Bump 2021 will air live on DDT’s subscription streaming service, Wrestle Universe.
