Booker T has backed soon-to-be former WWE star Paige to return to the ring when she leaves the company in July.
In a recent statement posted on social media, Paige announced that she will be leaving WWE on July 7th when her current contract expires. The star has called the company home for more than a decade, and leaves as a two-time Divas Champion, as well as the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion.
Despite a huge amount of success in the ring, the British star’s career has been hampered by serious neck injuries which first became an issue in 2016.
Although she returned to action in November 2017, the ‘Anti-Diva’ was struck down by another neck injury just a month later, this led her to call time on her in-ring career the following year.
However, after announcing that she will soon be leaving WWE behind, the former champion said that she feels she will definitely wrestle again.
Reacting to the news on a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T also backed the star to make what originally seemed to be an impossible comeback.
“I’m sure she’s going to be highly sought-after. Paige is a one of a kind. She really is, she really is one of a kind. Paige is going to be back inside the squared circle very, very soon. I don’t have any inside information, I just know how much she loves the business, I know how much her family loves the business, and how connected they are to the love of this game,”
The former World Champion explained that conflicting doctors reports may have led the former SmackDown General Manager to remain out of action.
“I don’t think it’s too late for Paige [to return to the ring]; sometimes with injuries, one doctor may tell you [that] you can’t do it, and then you go to another doctor right across the street and they say, ‘You’re fine, you’re good to go.’ I was told this myself.”
Speaking on a Twitch stream after she broke the news of her WWE exit, the former NXT Women’s Champion revealed that it was WWE’s decision not to renew her deal. However, the door remains open for her to return in the future.
