Paige VanZant has revealed the reason behind her AEW absence.
The former UFC star posted on Instagram that she is currently dealing with an injury. VanZant can be seen in front of an X-Ray of her foot, revealing that multiple bones in the foot may be broken instead of an initially suspected singular break.
Paige VanZant Is Out-Of-Action Due To A Broken Foot
Paige VanZant signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2022, officially becoming All Elite in March. The Bare Knuckle fighter has only competed in one match for the company, which took place at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. VanZant would be a part of American Top Team with Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page, with the trio defeating Frankie Kazarian, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti.
While currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, VanZant is best known for her previous career in mixed martial arts. Nicknamed 12 gauge, PVZ competed in 13 professional fights, with a win loss record of 8 to 5. In 2021, Paige VanZant would debut for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships [BKFC]. VanZant has currently competed in 2 professional fights, both have been losses. The next bout is scheduled for February 2023.
If the former MMA fighter were to return to a wrestling ring, don’t expect it to be on an episode of Dynamite or Rampage. Following the debut at Double or Nothing, VanZant stated in an interview that pay-per-view money would be the motivation for a second match. In the same interview, Paige VanZant also comments on a possible singles match in AEW in the near future.
With the transition from the octagon to the squared circle, the career of Paige VanZant has been compared to SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. One former champion in AEW has taken exception to this, stating that this is not AEW’s version of Rousey.
Inside The Ropes would like to wish Paige VanZant a full and speedy recovery.
