Saraya, formerly known as WWE Superstar Paige, spoke about strengthening her neck in light of the injury that forced her into a young retirement.
After more than ten years with WWE, former NXT and Divas Champion Paige (now known as Saraya) left the company when her contract expired on July 7th. Despite being just 29 years old, the star has been retired from in-ring competition since taking a kick from Sasha Banks during a December 2017 live event that exacerbated an already existing neck injury.
In the following years, she served as manager to her fellow Absolution members Mandy Rose and Sonya DeVille before becoming SmackDown General Manager in April of 2018, a position she held until quietly being removed the next December.
Despite her neck injury, Saraya has continued to tease that she wants to return to in-ring action, stating on a recent Twitch stream that her neck feels as healthy has it has in her whole career and that she feels like she could absolutely compete again.
Speaking to Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone during Starrcast V, the second-generation star opened up about how she’s been training her neck to increase strength and test whether it will be strong enough to make an eventual comeback.
“Yeah. So I’m a psychopath with health now. Especially like my boyfriend is also a psychopath with health too, so he just makes it easier to stay on a healthy plan. Yeah, I just learned how to really take care of my body and my mind and stuff like that. And when it comes to my neck, like I recently bought this weight thing for my head so I can — it’s really stupid, but it’s good to build up your neck muscles and stuff like that. And so like I’m trying to build it up just to see how it is.”
.@RealPaigeWWE says she's become more focused on her health and has been trying to build up strength in her neck.
