First Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final Confirmed

Owen Hart Foundation Tournament

The final of the men’s final of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament is now set, while one half of the women’s final is now complete.

In the main event of the May 25th edition of Dynamite, Samoa Joe and Kyle O’Reilly went to war for the right to meet Adam Cole in the final of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

The story of the match was Joe attempting to use his far superior power to dominate O’Reilly, while the reDRagon member tried to thwart Joe by targeting his already injured arm.

While O’Reilly bravely tried to trade strikes with his much larger opponent, he found the most success when going after Joe’s arm and shoulder which had been injured by Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh a week ago. Despite this, the former NXT Champion refused to be beaten and fought through the pain, eventually choking out his rival for the win.

After the match Adam Cole appeared on the ramp, staring down Joe as the show went off the air. The match at Double or Nothing will be the first time that the two men have ever met in the ring.

Earlier in the show, Britt Baker saw off the challenge of Toni Storm with a little bit of help from Jamie Hayter. The bout was a hard-hitting affair dominated by Storm in the early stages. Although Baker began to get back on terms by the mid-point, the momentum turned with the arrival of Hayter to ringside.

Although the bloodied Storm remained on offence, her focus had to be split to take into account Baker’s partner patrolling the ring. The end of the bout came when the former AEW Women’s World Champion reversed a Storm Zero attempt into a pin, holding the ropes for extra leverage, unseen by the referee.

The defeat was Toni Storm’s first since debuting in AEW.

Britt Baker will meet either Kris Statlander or Ruby Soho in the final of Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at Double or Nothing.
