On tomorrow’s edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Otis will appear in a segment set in a court room which looks set to decide the fate of the Money in the Bank briefcase.
WWE released the following statement:
“The Workin’ Man Superstar heads to court this Friday, as Otis is set to defend his Money in the Bank contract.
The Miz & John Morrison have schemed for weeks on how to take the coveted contract from the Heavy Machinery Superstar. The outspoken duo has attempted a number of heists, gotten Mandy Rose traded to Raw, and now resorted to legal action to try to pry the contract from Mr. Money in the Bank.
Don’t miss Otis representing himself in court on Friday Night SmackDown at 8/7 C on FOX.”
As noted by the official statement, The Miz and John Morrison have attempted to remove the Money in the Bank briefcase from Otis in recent weeks and have brought a storyline lawsuit against him in order to claim it as their own.
On October 7, the notoriously reliable WrestleVotes reported that several people backstage had attempted to pitch ideas to remove the briefcase from The Heavy Machinery member to make the Money in the Bank storyline a main focus once again.
However, Vince McMahon himself is believed to be a massive fan of the Otis character and has yet to decide on a plan for the briefcase going forward.
With the contract only giving its owner a shot at the WWE Universal Championship and the gold currently sat around the waist of Roman Reigns, options seem to be limited with what can be done with the briefcase unless Roman Reigns vs. Otis is the feud WWE plan to see us through the remainder of 2020.
