On last night’s edition of Monday Night Raw, Otis returned to the red brand under the mask and guise and El Gran Gordo.
After WWE had seemingly ended the Otis vs. The Miz and John Morrison storyline prematurely, the company gave us the continuation of the war over the Money in the Bank briefcase when Tucker approached the duo backstage.
Interrupting the pair’s verbiage with Mandy Rose – who Miz called ungrateful after it was revealed that they got her transferred to the red brand away from Otis before the draft – Tucker vowed not to allow the heelish duo get away with their heinous plan.
After the challenge of a bout was accepted for later in the night, as long as the former Heavy Machinery member could find a partner, both The Miz and John Morrison were shocked when Tucker introduced them to El Gran Gordo who was clearly Otis in a pink mask, pink trunks and a cape.
Speaking in an amusing Mexican/Southern mesh of an accent, Gordo and Tucker embarrassed The Miz and John Morrison after the masked machine pinned the victory with a second rope splash. The assist inadvertently came from R-Truth who was being pursued through the WWE ThunderDome by those in search of his WWE 24/7 Championship.
Prior to the bout, Miz told Otis that he was just trying to make people feel sorry for him in preparation for losing their legal case and the Money in the Bank briefcase. It appears that WWE haven’t given up on the storyline just yet and it will now be an inter-brand crossover until the fate of the contract has been resolved.
Despite the segment being very entertaining, it has left some dismayed that WWE have broken the rules of the 2020 Draft just one week after it’s conclusion.
Now we have to wait until Friday Night SmackDown to see if The Miz and John Morrison ignore the rules further and appear on their former home either as themselves or in disguise.
The mask that Otis wore on Monday was also the same mask worn by Deonna Purrazzo, Becky Lynch and Mickie James when they portrayed La Luchadora.
