According to former professional wrestling manager and performer, Johnny Fairplay, WWE’s original plan for Robert Stone was somewhat different than what transpired.
When Robert Stone made his NXT debut, he was a modern day Harvey Whippleman touting for clients for his own brand. The artist formerly known as Robbie E soon manages to snag Aliyah, Chelsea Green and briefly Mercedes Martinez to feud with Rhea Ripley who rejected his advances.
However, plans for the manager/wrestler were different according to former adviser. Johnny Fairplay, who spoke to PWTorch. According to the mouthpiece, the original plan was for Stone to manage a returning Melina in NXT:
“I hung out with Robbie E two weeks ago and he has no idea what he’s going to do. His plan was to bring in Melina and manage her in NXT. She had to have surgery or something. They’re not using the guy.”
Earlier this year, it was reported that Melina was set to return to WWE. However, the star soon shot down those rumours as false but has not ruled out a return in the future.
With both Mercedes Martinez and Chelsea Green deserting The Robert Stone Brand, the talent is left with only Aliyah. Neither name has been seen on NXT television since October when the latter lost to Toni Storm in singles action.
