SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan was originally supposed to have an encounter with Damage CTRL last Friday.
This past Friday on SmackDown, Shotzi rescued Raquel Rodriguez from a three-on-one attack at the hands of Damage CTRL. This came after Rodriguez lost a singles match to Bayley.
While the face turn for Shotzi appeared to have been planned, another SmackDown star was reportedly supposed to come to Rodriguez’s aid. According to Fightful Select, SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan was “originally listed internally” to help fend off Bayley’s group. However, Triple H and company decided to use Shotzi for the spot.
Morgan did have somewhat of a presence last Friday. She interrupted a sit-down interview with Ronda Rousey and challenged the Baddest Woman on the Planet to an Extreme Rules match at the self-titled premium live event. After accepting the challenge, Rousey proclaimed that the October 8th event would be her “funeral.”
Extreme Rules will be Liv Morgan’s first gimmick match as champion. Although she has defeated Rousey twice, both victories had a smidge of controversy attached to them. Their third encounter may finally give the champion a decisive win over Rousey.
As for Shotzi, her character is reportedly undergoing a character change on the blue brand. Reports suggested the tank she used during her entrances on NXT may return.
