Orange Cassidy Set For Huge Match At AEW Forbidden Door

Orange Cassidy

Orange Cassidy is one of AEW’s biggest stars. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, given that Tony Khan admitted that OC is his favorite wrestler and OC gets plenty of screen time on AEW’s biggest shows on a consistent basis.

And because he’s considered such a big star both internally in AEW and among its fans, it should also come as no surprise that Orange Cassidy will have a big match in eight days when AEW comes to Toronto for the second edition of Forbidden Door.

On the June 14th edition of Dynamite, Orange Cassidy, the current reigning and defending AEW International Champion, was challenged by another champion, NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre, Jr. ZSJ confronted Cassidy and noted that he liked the idea of being a dual champion and wanted to take the AEW International Championship back with him to New Japan.

But before Cassidy could accept ZSJ’s challenge, more drama ensued as yet another challenge was brought forward.

As Cassidy and ZSJ stared each other down, Daniel Garcia came out saying that he too wants a title shot. But instead of getting involved with Orange Cassidy and ZSJ, Garcia said that he wants to face a different NJPW wrestler, that being current ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata.

Cassidy has yet to formally accept ZSJ’s proposal for a title match, but did say after AEW Dynamite that he welcomes the challenge.

As of this writing, only four matches have been officially confirmed for Forbidden Door by both AEW and NJPW:

  1. Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship
  2. MJF vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi for the AEW World Championship
  3. SANADA vs. Jungle Boy for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
  4. Kazuchika OkadaBryan Danielson
