Expect Orange Cassidy to have a bigger impact on AEW programming going forward.
After establishing himself on the independent scene, Orange Cassidy made his AEW debut at the company’s first official pay-per-view Double or Nothing 2019. Although Cassidy’s comedic in-ring style initially proved divisive, in recent months he’s become one of the most popular stars on the roster.
The Freshly Squeezed star won the All-Atlantic Championship back in October 2022 after defeating PAC and he’s defeated any and all comers since. Cassidy made the most recent defence of the now International Championship at Battle of the Belts VII on July 15th.
Interestingly, it’s been reported that Cassidy is now becoming more and more involved behind the scenes. The report from Fightful Select noted that the star has been working as an agent/producer. In recent weeks he’s worked on matches between Infantry vs. Kingdom and Big Bill & Brian Cage vs. Matt Sydal & Trent.
Typically producers/agents and on a headset during matches and help keep the action in the ring on time, send messages to the ring from backstage, and liaise with talent in putting matches together. They also speak with the production team highlighting key spots so they know what to expect.
Orange Cassidy Joins Bryan Danielson In Working Backstage
Orange Cassidy isn’t the first AEW star to take on more responsibilities in recent times with Bryan Danielson’s influence also increasing. It was recently reported that the American Dragon has begun working closely with Tony Khan on creative, mostly for Collision and Rampage.
A further update noted that Danielson has been praised for his work in this area.
