Orange Cassidy Becomes AEW’s Most Successful Champion Of All Time

Orange Cassidy

With another victory on Dynamite, Orange Cassidy set a piece of AEW history.

Orange Cassidy joined AEW in 2019 and debuted at the promotion’s first official pat-per-view Double or Nothing. The star went on to feud with Chris Jericho, and even challenge for the AEW World Title — something that caused great discussion among fans given the comedic aspects of his character.

However, it’s as International Champion that he’s found the most success.

The Freshly Squeezed star won the gold when it was still called the All-Atlantic Title back in October 2022, when he defeated PAC. Since then he’s been a fighting champion, retaining over the likes of Katsuyori Shibata, Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, and Bandido. The star made his 27th and most recent defence on the June 26th episode of Dynamite where he saw off AR Fox.

As highlighted on Twitter by DrainBamager, that win helps cement Cassidy as the most successful AEW Champion in history, surpassing Jade Cargill. Cargill had held the TBS Championship for a staggering 508 days before being pinned by Kris Statlander at Double or Nothing. Cargill managed 25 successful defences of her title in total.

Orange Cassidy has now held the International Title for 288 days and counting.

What Else Does Orange Cassidy Do In AEW?

As well as starring in the ring, it was recently revealed that Orange Cassidy is working as a producer/agent backstage.

Cassidy follows Bryan Danielson into pursuing a backstage role with the company after the American Dragon took on an increasingly important position in creative.
