Biff Busick, formerly known as Oney Lorcan, has responded to accusations that he is a supporter of the controversial QAnon political movement.
On March 15th it was reported that Biff Busick, who was known as Oney Lorcan in WWE, had donated money in support of former WWE referee Drake Wuertz.
The ex-referee was released by WWE in May 2021 after becoming involved in a number of controversies backstage. On one occasion he appeared at a Seminole County Board of County Commissioners meeting via Zoom while wearing his NXT polo shirt to argue against mandating mask-wearing in schools. It was also reported that Wuertz had clashed with a number of figures backstage due to his stance on facemasks, and the COVID-19 vaccine amongst other issues.
Wuertz is currently standing as a candidate for the Republican nomination for Florida State Representative in the 30th district. It has since been reported by Ewrestlingnews, that a number of wrestling figures had donated to his campaign. One of those listed was Biff Busick.
However, the former NXT star has now attempted to distance himself from the campaign, denying that he is a fellow QAnon supporter along with Wuertz.
Posting on Twitter, Busick wrote, “I did not knowingly support a Qanon campaign. I do not support those beliefs.” This was followed by another reply to a fan stating, “I did make the mistake of lending money but wasn’t aware it was for a political campaign.”
He went on to reiterate his stance in a message posted on Reddit.
“A wrestling news site article was brought to my attention online. I am not a political person. I do not support Qanon or their beliefs. I thought I was just lending money and I did not knowingly donate to Drake’s campaign. I know how ppl with those beliefs can hurt people and I don’t want to do that to anyone.
Oney Lorcan signed with WWE in 2015, where he later found success in NXT teaming with Danny Burch. During this period the duo won the NXT Tag Team Championships. Lorcan was released by the company on November 4th 2021.
