A former WWE Superstar has high praise for Kevin Owens.
During his time in the company, Elias had a number of memorable moments alongside the former Universal Champion. One of the loudest reactions took place in 2018 while Owens and Elias took part in a musical segment in Seattle, which saw a joke about there not being a basketball team leading to a tirade of abuse from the fans for an extended period.
After an extended hiatus in 2021, Elias’ younger brother Ezekiel made his debut for the company on the Raw after WrestleMania 38 in 2022, which saw Owens lose to Steve Austin in the main event of night 1. While everyone else was convinced that the new Superstar was Ezekiel, Owens was adamant that the wrestler was Elias. Despite passing a lie detector test and being seen onscreen with his brother, Owens would not be convinced otherwise.
Facing off at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, Owens would defeat Ezekiel and go on to further attack him later that year and write him off of TV, leading to Elias returning in October. Elias departed the company in September 2023 after being a part of the latest round of releases.
Appearing at For the Love of Wrestling via Monopoly Events, Elias, now going by Elijah, looked back on his partnership and rivalry with Owens and stated that although he is physical in the ring, he is always exciting to watch:
“Me and Kev have a lot of great moments, together and against each other,” Elias said. “We formed a friendship really quickly in WWE. He’s one of the best guys around. … Kev is awesome. He’s always got my back.”
“Fighting him in the ring is brutal,” Elias continued. “He is a very physical guy. He hits hard, he slams hard, he’s heavy when he jumps on you. But he’s an amazing wrestler. Always has classic, great matches. He’s just so exciting. I just think me and him have a lot of chemistry.”
Kevin Owens Names His Pick For Best In The World
Having a number of great rivalries during his time in WWE, many remember Owens’ series of matches against Shane McMahon, who at one point referred to himself as “The Best in the World.” During a recent interview, Kevin Owens stated who he thinks is the best wrestler in WWE.
