Although WWE Crown Jewel 2022 featured a slew of high-profile bouts, capped off by Roman Reigns vs. Logan Paul, the undercard featured a singles clash between two behemoths of the wrestling ring. Braun Strowman and Omos did battle after weeks of squabbling, culminating in a Strowman victory via Running Powerslam.
For Omos, this is heavily touted as his finest in-ring showing. Braun Strowman himself praised ‘The Nigerian Giant’ on social media in an already-infamous tweet but backstage, WWE officials are reportedly high on him, too. This comes via PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, who is reporting that they’re happy with the one-time Raw Tag Team Champion’s progress.
Omos’ WWE Journey So Far
Billed at seven-foot-three, Omos was signed by WWE in January 2019, debuting the following July on the NXT live event circuit. Needless to say, his towering physique made him one of the most imposing figures ever seen in the sports entertainment giant, so much so that WWE opted to have him skip past NXT television, straight to the main roster.
First appearing as a giant ninja alongside Akira Tozawa and subsequently on Raw Underground, the imposing star finally found his footing as the bodyguard of AJ Styles. Their alliance was largely well-received, bringing a singular reign with the red brand’s Tag Team Championships in Omos’ main roster in-ring debut.
The former basketball player has been aligned with MVP since the post-WrestleMania 38 Raw, MVP having turned on Omos’ then-rival Bobby Lashley in favour of bringing on the significantly larger WWE Superstar as his client. This resulted in Omos’ biggest victory to date, pinning the two-time WWE Champion at WrestleMania Backlash.
It’s unclear what, exactly, WWE has planned for the real-life Jordan Omogbehin in the aftermath of Crown Jewel. A clean loss to Braun Strowman may be an indication that their feud is over for now, freeing him up to dig his teeth into something new.
