Olympic gold medal winning wrestler Tamyra Mensah-Stock made a surprise appearance on the November 16th episode of NXT 2.0.

In the main event of the latest episode of NXT, Raquel Gonzalez was scheduled to take on her long-time rival Dakota Kai. The rivalry between the two women has come to a head once more in recent weeks with Kai costing Gonzalez the NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc.

During Gonzalez’ entrance for the showdown, Tamyra Mensah-Stock and her husband Jacob Stock were shown in the crowd. The appearance was acknowledged on television, and inside the Performance Center with a loud USA chant coming from the crowd.

Mensah-Stock won gold in the Women’s Freestyle wrestling 68kg event at the Tokyo Olympics back in August. In the process she became the first Black woman to win a gold medal in wrestling.

After her brief appearance on camera on NXT, Mensah-Stock was interviewed backstage by Samantha Irvin. She excitedly said that she’d had a blast the show, adding that she was almost reduced to tears when the crowd started chanting for her.

“The experience was awesome, it was infectious,”

“I was screaming like a fan out there just like going haywire and I probably shouldn’t have been doing it. It was awesome. I just basically was disrespecting everybody with all my yelling and my enthusiasm was probably the loudest one in the room, just screaming ‘NXT! NXT!’ I had a blast and also like when they called me out, and were just chanting ‘USA!’ – that actually almost made me cry, that was so sweet.”

Tamyra Mensah-Stock has appeared in WWE before, being presented to the crowd at SummerSlam with fellow gold medal winner Gable Steveson. The star has previously indicted that she would be interested in becoming a WWE Superstar.

Gable Steveson has already signed with WWE, putting pen to paper on a “exclusive agreement” and the company’s first-ever NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal back in September. Steveson was drafted to Monday Night Raw as part of the 2021 WWE Draft. There is currently no word on when the star will make his debut.
