Nyla Rose, after exposure to COVID-19, has been pulled from the upcoming edition of AEW Dynamite.Rose was scheduled to face Leyla Hirsh.
In a tweet, ‘The Native Beast’ explained that ‘an immediate family member has tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result, I’ve been directly exposed.’ Following the safety protocol put in place by AEW, Rose will now quarantine for the next 14 days. Rose will also miss a scheduled Virtual Meet & Greet with Damage 365 promotions. The former holder of the AEW Women’s Championship ended the statement by urging everyone to ‘social distance and mask up’.
The unfortunate change to Dynamite means that consecutive editions of AEW television have now had women’s division matches altered due to a star being exposed to COVID-19. New Year’s Smash: Night 2 was originally set to feature Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa. However, that match was also postponed after Rosa came into contact with someone that tested positive for the virus. Though Baker vs. Rosa was rescheduled, it remains to be seen if AEW will do the same with Hirsch vs. Rose.
Nyla Rose joins a list of top AEW stars that have had exposure to COVID-19 or contracted the virus. Both Nick Jackson and Chris Jericho recently revealed that they tested positive for the virus in September.
Nyla Rose has not wrestled on Dynamite since the November 4th edition of the show where she defeated Red Velvet in dominant fashion. Since being defeated by Hikaru Shida at Full Gear, Rose has competed on AEW Dark multiple times, most recently defeating Alex Gracia in her trademark quick fashion.
