Nyla Rose has been named as one of the Outsports Female Athlete Of The Year honorees. She was picked by the LGBTQ+ organisation for her exploits in AEW.
“The Beast” has enjoyed the glory of winning the AEW Women’s Championship from Riho On February 12. She would go on to defend it throughout February until May, when she lost to Hikaru Shida at AEW Double or Nothing on May 23.
In winning the title, she became the first trans woman to do so in a major US promotion. Although she would lose to Shida in a rematch, she has had a mostly dominant year.
She is nominated alongside Sue Bird, the WNBA star with four league titles to her name. The winner of the award for 2020 was Yulimar Rojas, the Venezuelan triple jumper who set a new indoor world record.
It’s hard to be excited about this today… but I am grateful for the opportunity and nomination. Thank you @outsports. https://t.co/PvqjkMLpAq

The AEW Women’s World Championship marked the fifth different Women’s title of Nyla’s career but the first in a major promotion.
Also this year, the AEW star was ranked number 69 in Outsports’ QWI 100. It is worth noting, however, that the QWI 100 is listed alphabetically rather than in any particular ranked order. Nyla Rose joins Sonny Kiss (90), Diamante (29) and Dani Jordyn (24) among other AEW wrestlers who made the list.
Inside the Ropes congratulates Nyla Rose on her achievement.
