Two stars from NXT 2.0 will have a chance to become WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions as they’re included in the championship tournament!
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships have been vacant since former champions Sasha Banks and Naomi were stripped of the belts and suspended indefinitely when they walked out of the May 16th episode of Monday Night Raw. While there was talk of a tournament to crown new champions, there was no word on when the tournament would take place – that is, until the latest episode of SmackDown, during which it was revealed that the tournament would begin on the August 8th episode of Raw.
The beginning of Raw saw the bracket for the tournament revealed, and among the participants were NXT Superstars Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark. This comes as somewhat of a surprise as Stark is currently the number one contender to Mandy Rose’s NXT Women’s Championship and the two have not been paired on television previously. They will be facing Natalya and Sonya Deville in round one of the tournament.

Stark is no stranger to tag team action, however, as she previously held the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside another participant in the tournament IYO SKY (previously known as Io Shirai).
After the brackets were announced, Bayley, Dakota Kai, and IYO SKY were confronted by Alexa Bliss, Asuka, and Bianca Belair. After Bayley issued a challenge, it was determined that the six women will face off in trios action at WWE Clash at the Castle on September 3rd.
