NXT Women’s Tag Championships Unveiled, New Champions Crowned

NXT Women's Tag Team Championships

The brand new NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships have been unveiled on the March 10th episode of NXT.

NXT General Manager William Regal had promised to make ‘two game changing announcements’ and he certainly did Stand and Deliver.

After announcing that NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver would take place over April 7th and April 8th 2021, Regal unveiled the long rumoured NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles. Not only did the General Manager unveil new championships, he also crowed the first champions, Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai.

Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai were the first ever winners of the Women’s Dusty Cup and recently lost out on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in controversial circumstances.

Right after being awarded the belts it was announced that the new champions would be making their first defence against the team of Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart.

In a suitably whirlwind contest Moon and Blackheart upset the new champions to claim their first championship gold as a team.

Dakota Kai was forced to undertake much of the early punishment, unable to tag in her partner Raquel Gonzalez. Eventually Gonzalez would get the tag, taking the fight to the challengers. As the match started to break down Blackheart took advantage, hitting Kai with a European Clutch Roll-up for the three count.
