It has come to light that on October 5, WWE filed for further trademarks of the names of more NXT UK talent.
This time around, the company are looking for the trademarks on Dave Mastiff, Eddie Dennis, Dani Luna, Candy Floss and Ashton Smith. Names which the aforementioned stars used long before signing on the dotted line with WWE and NXT UK.
The news comes after Inside the Ropes reported that the company had already filed trademarks for Kay Lee Ray, Amir Jordan, A-Kid, Aoife Valkyrie and Amale.
The description of the trademark was given as:
“International Class 041: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services.”
While we are yet to see Candy Floss appear on the re-launched NXT UK, the other names have been largely active on the brand both in and out of the ring.
Eddie Dennis has yet to pull on his boots but is currently involved in a storyline where he’s looking to mentor Pretty Deadly, Dave Mastiff is one of the participants in the NXT UK Heritage Cup and will battle Joseph Conners in the First Round on the October 14 episode, Dani Luna teamed with Xia Brookside to defeat Amale and Nina Samuels on last week’s offering and Ashton Smith currently seeks the NXT UK Tag Team Championships with partner Oliver Carter.
WWE also filed to trademark the name, WWE Watch Along.
