NXT UK Championship: WALTER defeated Ilja Dragunov via submission
- Dragunov ran straight at WALTER after the bell rang, with both men seemingly continuing with their brawl from last week
- The ‘Ring General’ quickly put a stop to Dragunov’s attack and started to wear him down
- After kicking out of multiple powerbombs and a splash, WALTER locked in a sleeper hold in which Dragunov lost consciousness
- Referee Chris Sharpe called an end to the match – Dragunov did not tap out
Analysis: This match was nothing short of sensational. Coined by Ilja Dragunov as being a match that will “redefine violence”, this brutal encounter left little to be desired.
WALTER continues to be the all-dominant force of European wrestling whilst Dragunov’s resiliency in this match cemented his place as a force to be reckoned with in WWE.
Overall, this week’s edition of NXT UK had everything. Aoife Valkyrie continues to be an undefeated force within the women’s division, though Dani Luna left a very positive impression.
This week’s main event was outstanding. Even in an empty arena, WALTER and Ilja Dragunov managed to capture the same magic as their past encounters at wXw and PROGRESS. Dragunov pushed the Austrian to the point of anger, which is uncharacteristic of the NXT UK Champion as his reign surpasses 573 days.
Two matches have been set for next week’s episode of NXT UK:
- Pretty Deadly (Sam Stoker & Lewis Howley) and Sam Gradwell vs. Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang)
- NXT UK Heritage Cup Semi-Final: Noam Dar vs. A-Kid
