“I’m six weeks out Thursday.

I’m ahead of schedule and every day all I can think about is returning back to the ring, especially with all the excitement of The Rock, going to Netflix, WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, all I can think about is getting back and winning that number 15.”

Dave Meltzer

Dave Meltzer Justifies Kurt Angles Lack of Five Star Matches

Dave Meltzer is one of wrestling’s most noted journalists but his star rating system is a constant source of “debate” online.

In particular Meltzer often faces criticism for a preference for modern independent and Japanese wrestling and a disinterest in the more mainstream American product.

This is often highlighted on social media by Will Ospreay having over 30 matches deemed five stars or better whilst Kurt Angle, widely considered one of the greatest in-ring talents of all time, has none.

Taking to social media, Meltzer would attempt to explain/justify Angles lack of five star matches.

Dave Meltzer writes:

“Kenny [Omega] is a big fan of [Kurt] Angle and wished he could have worked with him

. I think Angle is one of the best I’ve ever seen, countless 4’s.

Angle never had the right opponent and platform although obviously Michaels & Benoit matches were really strong, but there is obvious evolution.

For time equivalents, Matt Hughes wouldn’t have beaten Usman, but I’m sure Usman would say the same about Hughes.”

Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura Comments on Kazuchika Okada's NJPW Departure

New Details Surrounding Kazuchika Okada's Post-NJPW Future

Kazuchika Okada is set to sign with AEW following his NJPW exit and now ‘The Rainmaker’s’ former rival Shinsuke Nakamura has commented on the move.

Speaking with Tokyo Sports, Nakamura would wish Okada the best in his new journey whilst also recalling the difficulties he faced when first leaving Japan.

Nakamura would state:

“How do you view your life, who you are, and what you want to become?

Only you can make that decision, so I had the courage to take the step that Okada took…it sounds like (Antonio) Inoki, but once you’ve taken that step, all you can do is move on.

Of course I’ll support them, and if there’s anything I can do, I’d like to do whatever I can.”

Recalling his own journey post NJPW, Nakamura would note:

“That’s also true, and it’s an invisible procedure.

There were a lot of hardships that I had to bear that I shouldn’t have had to bear.

I don’t want them to experience that kind of thing, and I want them to be pampered.”

NXT Title Match Scrapped Following Serious Injury [SPOILER]

Shotzi WWE

During last night’s episode of NXT, WWE star Shotzi approached NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria in order to set up a title match for next weeks show.

With WWE heading to Perth for Elimination Chamber, next week’s episodes of WWE TV are set to be pre-taped.

However, the title match was unfortunately scrapped after Shotzi suffered a serious injury during the tapings for next week’s show.

Those in attendance described the injury as “serious.”

A new report from Fightful Select provides more information on the injury.

In a “freak accident” Shotzi would seriously damage her knee hitting it off the ring whilst setting up for a commercial break, leaving her unable to put any weight on it or move at all.

The report notes that there is no heat backstage on Lyra or Shotzi for the injury as neither performer was to blame.

Subsequently, the match was thrown out and a Women’s Championship open challenge was issued instead.

The challenge was answered by Lash Legend whom Lyra took care of in comfortable fashion.

Everyone at Inside The Ropes would like to wish Shotzi a full and speedy recovery.
