It was a night of huge changes at NXT Halloween Havoc with multiple new champions crowned, a shock return and the debut of the son of a WWE Hall of Famer.
Since NXT 2.0 debuted back in September, the brand has been all about change. A theme that continued during the Halloween Havoc Special on October 26th.
Mandy Rose Crowned New NXT Women’s Champion
Ever since arriving back in NXT in July and later recruiting Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne to her cause, Mandy Rose has been on a mission for NXT Women’s Title gold. That mission was finally fulfilled at Halloween Havoc as Rose pinned long-time champion Raquel Gonzalez to claim the championship. The win marks Rose’s first championship since signing with WWE back in 2016.
Following ‘Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal’ it was left to “Chucky’s Choice” to make the stipulation and the iconic doll and special guest chose a ‘Trick or Street Fight.’
The two women proceeded to throw everything at each other from the steel steps, to kendo sticks to fire extinguishers in the pursuit of victory. However, the deciding factor proved to be the arrival of a hooded figure clutching a shovel who levelled Gonzalez with the weapon allowing Rose to hit the running knee to claim the win.
Dakota Kai Is Back
The mysterious figure in question was eventually revealed to be Dakota Kai. After Rose claimed the championship, Kai stood over Gonzalez’ crumpled body before revealing her identity.
Kai hasn’t been seen in NXT since August where she was defeated by Raquel Gonzalez at NXT TakeOver: 36. The two women had been long-time friends and even Tag Team Champions before Kai turned on her former bodyguard.
Toxic Attraction Win The NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles
Speaking of the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles, it proved to be a landmark night for Toxic Attraction with Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin emerging victorious in the Scareway to Hell Ladder Match.
Dolin and Jayne grabbed the win after a suitably chaotic contest which saw Io Shirai go crashing from the top of a ladder through another ladder set up at ringside.
New NXT Tag Team Champions Decided
For the second time Imperium, made up of Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel are the NXT Tag Team Champions. The pair overcame MSK with Aichner pinning Wes Lee after hitting a Brainbuster.
MSK had held the titles since defeating Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado del Fantasma at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver back in April.
Solo Sikoa Stands Tall On Debut
Joseph Fatu now known as Solo Sikoa has arrived in NXT 2.0. The son of WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi signed with the company in August before vignettes appeared teasing his arrival earlier this month. On the show Sikoa interrupted Grayson Waller and LA Knight arguing in the ring knocking Waller out with a single punch. Not willing to meet the same fate, Knight left the ring leaving the debutant to stand tall.
