With a number of main roster stars making appearances in NXT, it seems that two of WWE’s developmental stars could be going in the opposite direction.
On the June 27th episode of the show, the second Gold Rush special, The Creeds and The Dyad agreed to a match with potentially huge stakes. On the July 4th edition of NXT, the two teams will meet in a “Leaves The Brand” match.
On the face of it, this appeared to be an easy way to write Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler off television. The stars previously known as the Grizzled Young Veterans have been open about their desire to leave WWE, even requesting their release, although this was rejected. Since then they have hinted on social media that they will leave the company when their deals expire.
However, at the taping, things didn’t quite play out like that, and it was The Creeds who lost. PWInsider notes:
“The Dyad (Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid) with Joe Gacy and Ava Raine defeated The Creed Brothers with Ivy Nile in a Loser Leaves NXT Match. Joe Gacy was ejected during the match. Ivy and Ava got into it during the later portion of the match. When the referee was distracted, a masked man in a red hoodie came down from the crowd and hit a headbutt on Julius allowing Dyad to hit a double team move on him to get the win.”
With The Dyad set to stay in NXT, the result may have confirmed that The Creeds will be moving to the main roster.
On the August 29th episode of NXT The Creed Brothers won a match against The Dyad, earning a spot back on the NXT roster.
Rhea Ripley Returns To NXT
On the June 27th episode of NXT, Rhea Ripley also returned to the brand to send a warning to Carmelo Hayes. The WWE Women’s World Champion warned Hayes against getting involved in Judgment Day business after he got wrapped up in the issues between Finn Balor and Seth Rollins on Raw.
The Aussie star was later seen backstage walking past a fallen Jacy Jayne after she’d been attacked by Taya Valkyria, who Ripley dubbed a “badass.”
