Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar has teased a future main roster call-up and possible WrestleMania match

Numerous WWE superstars, such as Bianca Belair, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, and Becky Lynch, were part of last night’s WrestleMania 39 Launch Party at SoFi Stadium. Joining them were NXT Superstars Roxanne Perez and Santos Escobar.

Corey Graves interviewed Escobar on-stage with the leader of Legado del Fantasma teasing a main roster call-up for the entire faction – Joaquin Wilde, Cruz Del Toro, and Elektra Lopez:

“WrestleMania is ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All, ‘The Showcase of the Immortals’. Do you know what I represent? I represent mi familia latina. I represent mi familia Mexicana and I represent lucha libre, which means that WrestleMania, next year’s WrestleMania might just get grander because Santos Escobar and Legado del Fantasma might just make our WrestleMania debut and call this party Santos Mania!”

Santos Escobar made his NXT debut in April 2020, wrestling as El Hijo del Fantasma before winning the interim Cruiserweight championship. This caused a heel turn and subsequent name change to Santos Escobar, joining Joaquin Wilde and the then-Raul Mendoza in the Legado del Fantasma faction.

Escobar is currently scheduled to take on Tony D’Angelo in a Street Fight on next week’s NXT Heatwave, after making his return to cost D’Angelo an NXT Tag Team Championships match. If Escobar wins, he and the rest of LDF will be free from Tony D’Angelo’s Family but if he loses, he’ll be gone from NXT.
