Top NXT Star Set For Post-WrestleMania Call Up

NXT Crowd

A future call up from NXT 2.0 to the main roster has been reportedly revealed.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer is reporting that L.A. Knight is set for a spot on Raw or SmackDown shortly after the biggest show in WWE’s event calendar.

The report also states that despite Knight being 39 years old, going against the apparent WWE trend of focusing on younger stars, it has been said that “company officials are very high right now on L.A. Knight.” In regards to a specific call up date, Meltzer has said that “as of a few weeks ago he was slated for a main roster spot in the spring, after WrestleMania.”

While still a member of the NXT roster, L.A. Knight has interacted with stars of Monday Night Raw. Knight was recently involved in a heated conversation with Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode in a Digital Exclusive clip:

L.A Knight returned to NXT on the January 12th episode. Knight’s return followed AJ Styles victory over Grayson Waller, in which The Phenomenal One introduced L.A. Knight as one of his friends, and handed over the reigns of NXT to Knight after the show went off the air.

The former Million Dollar Champion may not be the only main roster call up after WrestleMania. Multiple NXT stars including Roderick Strong and Tommaso Ciampa have been reportedly backstage at main roster shows, and have competed in both dark matches and on WWE’s Main Event programme.

L.A Knight signed with NXT in February 2021. Despite being a recent signee to the promotion, Knight has been seen as a veteran of the ring during the current run.

L.A Knight teamed with Pete Dunne, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa at the 2021 WarGames pay-per-view, where the 4 men formed team Black and Gold. The team of mainstays would go on to lose the WarGames match to the NXT 2.0 team of Bron Breakker, Tony D’Angelo, Carmelo Hayes and Grayson Waller.
