It was revealed on the latest episode of NXT 2.0 that one NXT star suffered a knee injury that will keep her out of action for nine months.
In recent months, Yulisa Leon and Valentina Feroz have become a consistent presence in the women’s tag team division on NXT. The proud Latinas have also formed an alliance with Indian giant Sanga, and the three of them can often be seen in light-hearted backstage segments, recently attending a yoga class to find balance and perspective.
However, the mood was anything but jovial on the September 14th episode when Leon revealed that she’d suffered a knee injury and doctors say she will be out of action for nine months. Sanga said that he was sorry this had happened to his friend, but that they needed to turn a negative into a positive, and that it was now Valentina’s time to shine. They were then interrupted by Von Wagner and Robert Stone, who were upset that Von Wagner hadn’t won the fan vote to face Carmelo Hayes in for the North American Championship in the main event.
Yulisa Leon is from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and is the first Mexican woman to be signed to a WWE contract. The second generation performer is a three time World Powerlifting gold medalist and signed with WWE in February 2021.
She last competed in a fatal four way tag team match for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship on the August 2nd episode of NXT 2.0, where she and Valentina Feroz faced the teams of Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, Ivy Nile and Tatum Paxley, and Toxic Attraction. The match was ultimately won by Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, who were crowned champions after the title was vacated by Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade.
